What Makes AstroPeak Special?

Astropeak is located at one of the darkest sites in the US, with SQM readings consistently between 21.5 and 22.0 — classified as Bortle 1. At 5000+ feet in elevation in an arid desert climate, there's less atmosphere, less humidity, and less turbulence.

Can I Visit the Observatory?

Customers are welcome to visit. We require advance notice to coordinate site access and ensure staff availability. Many people coordinate their visit with delivering gear so they can set it up themselves. We welcome you to do your own setup

What are the Sky Conditions Like?

We provide Bortle 1 skies, minimal light pollution, low humidity, low atmospheric turbulence, and up to 300 imagable nights per year.

What Technical Support is Available?

Astropeak provides 24/7 onsite support, including equipment checks, resets, cable inspections, weather alerts, and remote-access assistance. Your rig is always monitored and never left unattended.

Is My Equipment Safe?

Your equipment is securely protected at all times. Our facility maintains locked observatory buildings, 24/7 on-site staff, and continuous surveillance. We monitor weather, power, and equipment status around the clock.

Where is the Observatory?

Astropeak Observatory is located in southern Utah, in some of the darkest skies in the continental United States. Our site sits at over 5000 feet elevation in an arid desert climate with minimal light pollution and excellent atmospheric conditions.

Do I Need Insurance?

We strongly recommend insuring your telescope and mount for peace of mind during shipping and long-term hosting.

How is the Internet Connectivity and Speed?

Astropeak provides 1 Gbps internet at your pier, with symmetric upload and download speeds. This will ensure seamless remote control of your telescope, fast data transfer, and real-time monitoring without lag or buffering.
